December 2012 P lanning continues for the 11th An-nual Commercial Real Estate Forecast Conference that is pro-duced by Real Estate Publishing Group and Real Estate Communications Group. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. The venue for this year’s event is new, the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers which is located at 301 E. North Water St. More than 1,000 people again are ex-pected to register for the Annual Fore-cast Event that will feature approxi-mately 55 industry experts speaking on a variety of topics of interest to the real estate community. Following an hour-long period of networking and registra-tion, the event will kick off with a keynote conversation featuring Chris Kennedy of the noted Kennedy family, and someone who continues a long his-tory in Chicago real estate, and Dan Ryan who runs the Midwest operations for Jones Lang LaSalle. The schedule also includes three general session panels followed by six breakout sessions: The Annual Commercial Real Estate Forecast Conference is the largest and longest running event of its kind in the industry. Last year the event attracted more than 1,050 registrants. Event organizers pointed to improving real estate conditions and the addition of Sam Zell and Debra Cafaro in a fireside chat format as reasons for a significant jump in attendance. 9:05 The Big Picture in Chicago Real Estate In this session a panel comprised of leading names in development, own ership, brokerage and capital markets—covering all property segments— takes a closer look at the issues, trends and outlook for commercial real estate in Chicago and the suburbs. 9:50 Legal Issues Impacting Real Estate A new year almost always means new laws and regulations, from lease accounting to tax rates, etc. In this panel some of Chicago’s leading com mercial real estate attorneys address the legal issues that are and will continue to impact real estate in 2013. 10:40 Repositioning, Refocusing and Revitalizing Chicago Real Estate Across the city and suburbs, buildings and campuses are going through complete repositioning and repurposing programs. These initiatives are revitalizing individual buildings and overall market areas. In this session, developers, owners and financial sources discuss the strategies behind these efforts. 11:30 Breakout Sessions Focused discussions on the Downtown Office, Suburban Office, Industrial, Retail, Investment, and Multifamily specialty markets.
